My research focuses on the development of organisational archives and concepts of contemporaneity. The key case study for the research is Bloomberg New Contemporaries, established in 1949. This nationwide programme platforms new artists as they emerge from art school into the professional sphere. As an annual collective of work from graduating students across the UK, the exhibition offers an opportunity to assess not only the most breaking in new artistic modes of practice, but also an analytical and demonstrable view of the development of contemporary art within the UK. This research also focuses on exploring the archival potential when working with a dispersed and disparate body of material, particularly for the period of 1949 - 1980s, as well as expanding these materials through oral history interviews.
