The Centre for American Legal Studies at BCU and the Monroe Centre at Reading Universityare pleased to announce a call for papers for their conference on American Politics, History and Law: A Cross-Disciplinary Dialogue.
This event will bring together academics and practitioners in the areas of American Politics, History and Law, with a view to providing an informal platform to meet, present their research and network. Prof. Robert McKeever, one of Britain’s leading expert on American Politics, will be delivering the keynote lecture on the intersection between law and politics in the U.S.
The conference is intended to offer around 25 academics and postgraduate students the opportunity to present (for around 20 minutes each), either a full research paper or on ongoing research project. Papers are invited from academic, practitioners and postgraduate researchers at any stage of their career. The six best papers will then be published in a special edition of the British Journal of American Legal Studies.
Those presenting at the conference are also invited to attend the Stars and Stripes ECN Network event on Monday evening, which will provide a unique opportunity to network with the colleagues on American Politics, History and Law. Academics from across the UK will benefit from exchanging ideas with colleagues from other disciplines to find new, innovative research synergies and we will discuss the creation of an inter-university ‘Law and Politics’ research centre.
This conference has been made possible thanks to the generosity of the Political Studies Association (PSA) ECN Network and the American Politics Group.
Abstracts should be submitted to Ilaria.DI-GIOIA@bcu.ac.uk by Friday 29 June 2018 (or earlier if possible). Please also feel free to get in touch with any queries about this event.
